Award-winning writer and academic at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Mrs. Madhubhashini Disanayaka Ratnayake narrates a tale of a remarkable woman who very recently retired from Japura after serving at the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Applied Sciences as a Senior Professor in Mathematics.

Mrs. Ratnayake hereby gives a heartwarming account of Prof. Sunethra Weerakoon, the first in the country to have been made Professor of Mathematics by Merit, and the first female in Sri Lanka to get a PhD in this subject.
