Mr. Nalaka Wijekoon; PhD student in Anatomy, Interdisciplinary Center for Innovation in Biotechnology & Neuroscience, University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJP) has secured the one of the best research poster presentation award and a gold medal at the 4th AIST International Imaging Workshop January 15-22, 2017 at Biomedical Research Institute, AIST ,Japan (https://unit.aist.go.jp/bmd/en/event/index) by competing with 20 candidates from 10 countries including India, China, Korea, Thailand, Pakistan, Mongolia and Japan who have been selected out of 179 eligible applications received worldwide.
Title of the poster presentation: “Analysis of mutation pattern of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in Sri Lanka: A cohort study”
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between AIST, Japan and USJP in 2015, initiating a trilateral collaboration in Science and Technology between Japan, India and Sri Lanka.
This is the second consecutive award received from AIST followed by first award secured in 2016 by the PhD students under the supervision of Prof. Ranil de Silva, The Director, Interdisciplinary Center for Innovation in Biotechnology & Neuroscience.
