The University of Sri Jayewardenepura becomes overall champions of Sri Lanka University Games 2019, which concluded yesterday at University of Ruhuna. Fourteen Universities participated in this event in 22 sports.

Sri Lanka University Games (SLUG) is a sporting event held with the participation of sportsmen and sportswomen of state universities in Sri Lanka. It is named as “Mini Olympics” and considered as the most prestigious and the most awaited tournament of Sri Lankan university sports.
This victory is a result of dedication and commitment of sportsmen and sportswomen of the University of Sri Jayewardnepura together with providing necessary facilities and leadership by the present Vice-Chancellor, Prof Sampath Amarathunge.
This event is held in every three years, last time it was held in 2016 and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura became winners of that competition, hence this the second consecutive SLUG won by Japura.
