University of Sri Jayewardenepura has won the Inter University Championship 2022 by scoring 365.5 points by the end of the games and retain the overall championship for the 4th time.
Inter University Championship 2022 games started with the Men’s and Women’s badminton championship on November 11, 2022, and carried over till January 8, 2022 with the participation of over Sportsmen and Women representing 16 state universities for 22 sports disciplines.
The Games, conducted by the Sri Lanka University Sports Association (SLUSA) with the financial backing of the University Grant Commission (UGC). USJ has won the Inter University Championship in year 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019 (SLUG) earlier. The Inter University Championship 2022 held after 2 years break due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Winners from this Inter University Championship will be set up into the pool to represent Sri Lanka in the World University Games scheduled to be held from July 28 to Aug 8, 2023 in China.
