The inauguration ceremony of the orientation program for the new intake of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (2024) was held on the 01st of January 2025 at 2.00 p.m. at the Bandaranayake Hall with the participation of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura; Senior Prof. Pathmalal Manage, Registrar of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura; Mr.A.B. Weliwita, Librarian, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda, Deans of other faculties, Heads of Departments as well as the academic members of the faculty. The ceremony was welcomed by Professor Sepala Samarasekara, the Chairman of the Orientation Committee who introduced the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences to the new students. Followed by, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura; Senior Prof. Pathmalal Manage and Registrar of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Mr.A.B. Weliwita addressed the students on the university culture respectively.
The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Shirantha Heenkenda, delivered an address to the students, focusing on their academic journey and emphasizing the importance of strategic planning for achieving both academic and professional success.
The program gives students an opportunity to learn about the university and the faculty. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences looks forward to welcoming its new intake and is excited about the journey ahead.
