Congratulations,
Mr. Chathura Sandeepa, Mr. Chamodya Kaldera, Mr. Chamal Akalanka, of The University of Sri Jayewardenepura who won at the Inter-university Parliamentary debate (style of debating) competition organized for the first time at the University of Colombo. The students emerged winners in the Sinhala category.
The event was participated by state and non-state universities in Sri Lanka, such as the University of Colombo, University of Kelaniya, University of Jaffna, Open University Sri Lanka, Moratuwa University, SLIIT, NSBM, KDU, etc.
The University of Sri Jayewardenepura won against the following teams:
Quarterfinals: Open University of Sri Lanka
Semi-finals: University of Kelaniya
Finals: University of Moratuwa
Furthermore, Chamal Akalanka Polwaththage of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura was named as the Best Speaker of the event.
The University of Sri Jayewardenepura also won the Best Speaker award in the Tamil medium category and the English medium team won 4th place in the English category
