On 15th July 2021, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) of the State Ministry of National Security and Disaster Management of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to promote collaborative research and development in the field of Landslide Disaster Risk Management. Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, Vice-Chancellor, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Dr. Akila Subasinghe, Dr. Chamitha de Alwis, Dr. Nishan Dharmaweera and Ms. Tharani Edirisinghe from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, were present at this occasion.
Eng. (Dr.) Asiri Karunawardena, Director General, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) will be signing the MoU in the time ahead. Dr. Akila Subasinghe from the USJ and Dr. Gamini Jayathissa from NBRO will be the research coordinators for this MoU. Along with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), NBRO and USJ would enhance information exchange, establish joint research and developments, and respond to landslide threats for life and safety of the public in Sri Lanka.
