The 43rd Annual General Meeting of the Academics’ Santhagaraya & Welfare Society at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura was successfully held on November 8, 2024. The event took place at 7:00 PM at the Ariyana Hotel in Maharagama, gathering over 75 academic staff members dedicated to supporting the university’s academic community.
The meeting included the election of a new committee, charged with continuing the society’s mission of enhancing academic welfare and fostering a supportive environment for all members. The newly appointed committee members are:
President: Dr. GGT Chandrathilake
Secretary: Dr. Wasanthi De Silva
Treasurer: Dr. Kingsley Karunaratne
Vice President: Dr. Chathuranga Vidanage
Assistant Secretary: Dr. Chithrani Wijesundara
Assistant Treasurer: Dr. Chathuri Jayasinghe
Committee Members: Ms. Sadunika Rathnayake, Dr. Sumanajith, Dr. Sampath Kongahawatte, Dr. D. G. N. D. Jayarathna, and Ms. Menaka Nishanthi
Advisor: Venerable Dambara Amila
During the meeting, members discussed and proposed initiatives to be implemented by the new committee to further strengthen the welfare of the academic community. The evening concluded with a dinner, where attendees had the opportunity to connect and exchange ideas.
The Academics’ Santhagaraya & Welfare Society continues to be a pillar of support within the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, playing a vital role in enhancing the well-being and cohesion of academic staff.
