On 15th December 2014, the Accounting and Financial Management Association (AFMA) comprising the student bodyof the Department of Accounting of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura proudly presented “RIDMA NADEE 2014”, the much awaited cultural extravaganza of the year, at the Bandaranaike Hall of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
It was a unique cultural event, the theme of which was “Evolution of Sri Lankan culture and art over the passage of time” and depicted the period from the Wijaya-Kuveni saga to the modern era by means of music, song, dance and drama.The show was truly a platform for university students to showcase their talents and enhance their aesthetic skills, which is an essential part of grooming an employable graduate for the corporate sector.
The Chief Guest at the event was Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and the Guest of Honour was Mr. Shiran Weerasinghe an alumni of the Department of Accounting and CEO of Kanrich Finance Ltd. Prof. M.W. Wickramarachchi, the founder of the Department of Accounting and Dr. W.G.S. Kelum the Head of the Department as well as many members of the academic staff of the Department of Accounting graced this occasion.
“Ridma Nadee 2014” marked another mile stone in AFMA’s journey towards excellence and enabled its members to display a variety of aesthetic talents.
This event would not have been such a great success if not for the generous sponsorship of many members of the corporate sector and the support and guidance of the lecturers of the Department of Accounting.
