Medical student Randunu excels at “Speech Master” 2015

The “Speech Master 2015” organized by the Gavel Club of the University of Sri Jayawardenepura saw its much anticipated finale on 25th October. Out of the ten finalists, the event produced several winners. J’pura too can boast of a winner as the 3rd place was won by Randunu Dissanayake of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. The first place was bagged by Dahami Keshia Fonseka of RI while the second place was taken by Samadhi Nisansala Nawalage of the College of Chemical Sciences.

Randunu is a 3rd year medical student and he schooled at Ananda College. He began his speaking as a debater at school.  This is his first public speaking contest and no doubt the victory is much treasured. He is quite an all rounder as music, sports and many other activities do interest him.

The Speech Master contest aims at bringing out the best in public speech skills and leadership skills of the undergraduates. It is open to both public and private universities and this year 50 contestants competed at the semi final on the 10th October. The grand finale was held at the Reading Hall of the Sumangala Building with the ten finalists. Among other winners were Sandaru Karunasiri of UOM and Gadjen Suryakumar of CIRP who clinched the 4th and the 5th places consecutively. Dhilmi Suriyarachi of SAITM was adjudged the most popular speaker.
