Prof. A. H. L. R. Nilmini was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Technology for a three-year term starting on 11th September 2023, by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Senior Prof. Pathmalal M. Manage.
Prof. A. H. L. R. Nilmini holds a BSc Chemistry Special Degree from the University of Colombo and earned her Ph.D. specializing in polymers used in drug and gene delivery from Cardiff University in the U.K. Her journey in academia began in 1999 when she commenced her career as a Research Officer at the Polymer Chemistry Department of the Rubber Research Institute of Sri Lanka. She demonstrated remarkable progress, eventually becoming the head of the Polymer Chemistry Department in 2012.
In 2016, Prof. Nilmini joined the Biosystems Technology Department of the Faculty of Technology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, initially as a Senior Lecturer. That same year, she was appointed as the head of the department. Her commitment to excellence in education and research was further recognized in 2018 when she assumed the role of head of the Engineering Technology Department.
Prof. A. H. L. R. Nilmini’s appointment as the Dean for the second term marks an exciting chapter in the Faculty of Technology’s leadership.
