Opening of the Student Support Center at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

The Student Support Center, initiated to assist the undergraduate candidates of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in resolving their issues and fostering well-rounded graduates, was officially opened on January 16, 2025, under the patronage of the Dean, Professor Shirantha Heenkenda. The opening ceremony took place on the fifth floor of the Sri Wimaladhamma Building.

This center provides support to the undergraduate community of the faculty through three main service streams:

  • The Academic Mentoring Program (AMP): Under academic mentoring, the center is ready to assist with any difficulties you may face regarding general or honors degree programs, course unit selection, credit values of course modules, or any other information included in the faculty handbook.
  • The Student Counselling Program (SCP): If you experience any personal or academic stress during your undergraduate life, the Student Counselling Program is available to assist you. Through this program, you can access professional psychological counselling services offered by trained counsellors, including faculty members, while adhering to ethical standards.
  • The Student Welfare Program (SWP): This program aims to support students facing financial challenges during their academic journey. Whether it’s financial difficulties or matters related to accommodation and overall welfare, the center is prepared to provide assistance tailored to your needs.

No matter the challenges you face, you are not alone. The Student Support Center is dedicated to guiding you throughout your university journey.
