The University of Sri Jayewardenepura marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of the new building complex for the External Degrees and Extension Courses Unit (EDECU) on January 30, 2025.
The event was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Senior Professor M.M. Pathmalal, the Registrar, Mr. A.B. Welivita, and Professor Rupika Senadheera, Director of EDECU, along with members of the academic staff.
External Degrees and Extension Course Unit of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura commenced in 1979 with the commencement of the External Degree Programme in B. Com. Subsequently B.A General Degree Programme commenced. In 1997 the External Degree Programmes in B.Sc Business Administration and Public Administration also commenced. Currently there are six external degree programs offering by the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce. This new facility aims to enhance administrative operations and provide improved services to students enrolled in external degree programs.
The new office premises, located at No. 16, S.D.S Jayasinghe Mawatha, Kohuwala, Nugegoda, will be open for administrative operations from Monday, February 3, 2025.
