Mr. W. M. R. W. Anurudda B. Weliwita was appointed as the 10th Registrar of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura with effect from 30th November 2020. He was appointed to this position following the retirement of Mr. K. G. Britto.
A pirith ceremony was held at the registrar office in the administration building on 30th November 2020 at 9:15am with the presence of Vice-Chancellor, Senior Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, all Deans and other senior administrative staff of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
The appointment letter was handed over to Mr. Weliwita by Senior Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, Vice-Chancellor. Following the pirith ceremony, a speech was made by the Vice-Chancellor congratulating him on his assumption of duties and wishing him all the best. Mr. Weliwita also stated in his speech that he would perform his duties to the best of his ability.
Mr. Anurudda Weliwita completed his primary education at Sangarajapura Maha Vidyalaya, Kandy and secondary education at St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy. He is an Alumni of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, having graduated in the year 2000 from the Department of Business Administration in the Faculty of Management Science and Commerce. In 2002, Mr. Anurudda Weliwita joined Rajarata University as an assistant registrar. He became a senior registrar in 2008. He completed his Masters in Management in 2013 at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Afterwards, he joined the university administrative staff in May 2015 as Deputy Registrar of academic establishment and since then has provided an outstanding service to the university. The University of Sri Jayewardenepura wishes him all the best for all his future endeavors.
