Two FMS Students of USJ Achieve Notable Success at Bestweb.lk 2024

 

The Bestweb.lk 2024 tournament, organized by LK Domain, recently concluded with Medtalks.lk earning significant recognition. Managed by students from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Medtalks.lk was awarded the title of the most popular website in the Health and Welfare category. Additionally, the site secured a bronze medal as the third-best website in the same category.

Medtalks.lk, led by medical students Hiran Chamuditha Munasinghe and Kaweesha Akalanka from the Faculty of Medical Sciences, is dedicated to providing free health education and awareness on safe health practices. Operating across multiple social media platforms, the service aims to bridge the knowledge gap in Sri Lanka, answer health-related inquiries, and debunk health myths. All content is reviewed by medical professionals, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the information shared.

In just one year, Medtalks.lk has garnered over 70,000 subscribers, with videos reaching up to a million views. The platform’s success is a testament to its commitment to improving health literacy in Sri Lanka, in alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3): Good Health and Well-being. The recognition at Bestweb.lk 2024 highlights the platform’s impact and growing influence in the field of health education.
