The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is a classification of academic and research-related institutions ranked by a composite indicator that combines three different sets of indicators measured by their web visibility.

University of Sri Jayewardenepura has been listed for the first time in this ranking in 2018. Its is a clear indication of the recent development in research, innovation and societal impact as reflected by the website of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
Last year, in 2017 USJ was not in this list, and only following universities were included in this list.

This site also ranked countries according to their research inputs (citations and H index), and based on that Sri Lanka is ranked in 82nd place out of 239 countries. It is interesting to note that Sri Lanka has been placed below Ethiopia (78th place). This indicates that Sri Lanka has a long way to go in terms of developing research in the country.
