The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Shirantha Heenkenda, addressed the students regarding the noteworthy achievements of the faculty resulting from the delayed release of the A-level examination results held in January, attributed to teacher strikes and various other factors. Had the results not been delayed, these students would have had the opportunity to commence their studies much earlier. Nevertheless, the faculty managed to promptly commence the academic year 2022/23, no later than one month after the release of the cut-off marks. Professor Heenkenda proudly announced that the faculty was the first among all other arts faculties within the entire university system to initiate academic activities for the academic year 2022/23.

The student enrollment figures for the faculty are as follows: 852 students under the general intake category, 47 students for Information Technology, 46 students for Financial Economics, 41 students for Teaching English as a Second Language, 41 students for Creative Music Technology, and 45 students for Social Work as direct intake.
