On the 15th of November, the Sumangala Auditorium at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura resonated with melodies and rhythms as the much-anticipated “Rhythm to Personality” Annual Workshop 2023 unfolded. This transformative event, organized by the Flair Club of the university, aimed to inspire and guide undergraduates towards music and aesthetic activities, providing a unique approach to developing soft skills and managing academic stress.
The primary objective of the workshop was to motivate undergraduates to explore the world of music and aesthetics as a means of nurturing essential soft skills. Understanding the significance of these skills in personal and professional growth, the event sought to expose students to the therapeutic benefits of artistic expression.
Distinguished professional musicians graced the occasion as resource persons, adding immense value to the workshop. Mr. Keerthi Pasqual, a celebrated musician and singer with over 40 years in the music industry, and Mr. Surendra Anthony, an expert in lead guitar, banjo, and mandolin, shared their insights on the profound impact of rhythm on personality development.
Adding a corporate perspective, Ms. Madhavi Shilpadipathi, the General Manager of Human Resources at MAS Holdings, brought her wealth of experience to the stage. Ms. Shilpadipathi, known not only for her corporate acumen but also for her prowess as a professional dancer and singer, enlightened participants on the importance of aesthetic capabilities in the corporate world.
Representing various faculties, close to 300 students actively engaged in the workshop, embracing the opportunity to explore the world of rhythm and creativity. The Flair club, dedicated to promoting artistic endeavors, orchestrated the event, emphasizing the crucial role of artistic capabilities in shaping well-rounded individuals.
The participants were treated to an evening of enchanting melodies and soulful singing by professional artists. The ambiance in the auditorium was electric, as the students immersed themselves in the harmonious blend of music and wisdom imparted by the resource persons.
