The fully equipped Blended Learning Center of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura built under Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD) project utilizing Rs. 35 million of world bank fund was ceremonially opened for student use on the 3rd of March 2022 at the New Faculty Building Complex under the patronage of the vice chancellor of the university Senior Professor Sudantha Liyanage, Dean of the faculty Professor Laleen Karunanayake, Operational Technical Secretariat of AHEAD, Professor Harendra Kariyawasam, AHEAD coordinator, Senior Professor Hemanthi Ranasinghe.
The project was initiated for enabling the students of the faculty to get the experience of modern learning environment. As the result, a classroom that is equipped with state of the art equipments for teaching, learning and content creation has been built for practicing blended learning activities. It was constructed as a joint venture of EWIS and Alucare (pvt) Ltd. Among the others, the classroom management software along with the virtual desktop infrastructure, interactive displays, visualizers, teleconferencing, and virtual reality technology enabling devices will provide a smooth and consistent platform for conducting teaching and learning activities creatively in infinite ways, for the lecturers and students in the faculty.
