Department of Forestry and Environment science, participated in EDEX Expo 2015 Exhibition, organized by Royal college union from 23rd to 25th January at BMICH Colombo. Students of the department dedicated to put up a stole at the “green pavilion” of the Exhibition. The key areas considered by them are recycling, sustainability and learning aspects of Environment Science. Over a dozen students actively participated at the stole and gave away good knowledge to the visitors.
Aquatic Association attached to Department of Zoology and Center for Sustainability attached to the Department of forestry and environment science had also put their own stole at the “green pavilion”.
Department of Forestry and Environmental Science is the one of its kind in Sri Lanka, to assist in the sustainable management of natural resources and environment through manpower and knowledge development. The department is committed to update, modernize and develop programs to levels par excellence. It also plays an important role in national and international committees, development projects and activities, conductance of applied research, dissemination of research findings, creating awareness on environmental issues among the general public.
Each year “green pavilion” brings together exhibitors, individuals and corporate entities keen to display, exhibit and showcase their initiatives, products, services, technological innovations, skills development and employment opportunities leading to sustainable living. The green pavilion is given prominence with the annual EDEX education & careers EXPO with a separate enclosure.
