Dr. Imalka Munaweera, Senior Lecture of Department of Chemistry of USJ has received one of the most prestigious awards “OSWD Elsevier Foundation Award” for Nanotechnology Research. Her research focuses on using synthetic chemistry techniques to produce nanoparticles and nanofiber composites that can be applied in a range of functions, from drug delivery to water filtration to minimizing post-harvest losses of fruits and vegetables.
Dr. Imalka Munaweera was one of the five winners of 2021 OWSD-Elsevier Foundation Award for Early-Career Women Scientists in the Developing World, they were selected from developing countries all around the world. It’s a great achievement to the department and as well as to the university “taking innovations beyond the horizon”.
