The University of Sri Jayewardenepura held a donation event on July 31, 2024, at the Sumangala Auditorium, where a new ambulance was gifted to the university. The event, conducted by the Alumni Association of USJ, began with the arrival of guests, followed by an opening speech from Snr Prof. Pathmalal Manage, Vice Chancellor of the university. Traditional dances and speeches from notable figures, including Snr Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Chairman of the University Grants Commission, and Prof. Ajantha Herath, President of the Herath Foundation in Japan, highlighted the ceremony.
His Excellency Mr. Mizukoshi Hideaki, Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka, and Prof. Samantha Thelijjagoda, Chairman of the Herath Foundation in Sri Lanka, also delivered speeches. The event concluded with the formal handing over of the ambulance key and nebulizers, followed by a show of appreciation and a performance featuring Sri Lankan traditional drums.
