Department of Sinhala & Mass Communication of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, USJ has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with HELVETAS Inter-cooperation gGmbH, on Monday, 17th August 2020, with initial plans to collaborate on a new project which is designed to promote and respect the freedom of expression, by empowering a community of youth. Under this agreement, the HELVETAS Intercooperation gGmbH organization will be developing an Incubator Space fully equipped with all tools and devices for the interest of the department’s undergraduates. The signing of the MOU is a milestone in the relation of the two institutions.
Titled as InSPIRE, this agreement is being done to enhance the cooperation between both institutions to achieve their common objectives in the direction of connecting students through multi-disciplinary learning and providing them with creative spaces for expression.
Professor Sudantha Liyanage, Vice-Chancellor, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and Mrs Subhashi Dissanayake, Country Representative of HELVETAS Intercooperation gGmbH signed the MoU in the presence of Professor Shirantha Heenkenda, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr Kusumalatha Lankamulla, Head, Department of Sinhala and Mass Communication, Senior Lecturer Senani Harischandra and several officials from both sides.
Commenting on the signing, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sudantha Liyanage, said the agreement is firming their institutional relations which ultimately benefit the students by providing them a free space to express creative ideas and develop their ingenious knowledge.
