University of Sri Jayewardenepura is a collaborative partner of the TradMed International 2017, Sri Lanka – an International Symposium on Traditional and Complementary Medicine, Educational Exhibition & Trade Fair – 2017, which is organized by the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine. The International conference will be held on 23rd, 24th and 25th of November 2017 at the Water’s Edge, Colombo.
Prof. Ranil de Silva, the Director of the World Class University Project, USJP, who is the Co-Chair of this upcoming conference has taken steps forward to develop some long lasting sustainable plans in terms of bridging academics and the industry through this International Conference.
During his academic visit to India from 24th to 31st Aug 2017, Prof. De Silva met Honorable Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste and handed over the promotional materials of TradMed International 2017, Sri Lanka. Honorable Minister informed Prof de Silva strong support in making the event a great success.
The International Symposium will be attended by over 30 eminent speakers from USA, UK, Australia, Singapore, Japan, China, India, South Korea, Netherlands, Iran and Thailand, where more than 48 lecture sessions will be conducted by the international experts.
The Symposium will cover a wide scope of traditional and complementary medicine. Approximately 120 original abstracts will be selected for oral presentation and 100 abstract will be selected for poster presentation. The outstanding abstracts (100-150) will be published in the Biomed Central Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (Impact Factor- 2.288). This is the first time that Sri Lankan Traditional Medicine Symposium proceedings will be published in an International Journal listed in PubMed of the US National Library of Medicine.
Further to this, the pre- symposium workshop organized by the University of Sri Jayewardenepura to be held on the 22nd Nov 2017, offers an opportunity to explore molecular biology and phytochemical analysis techniques used in herbal/natural product based drug development and molecular diagnostics.
There will be an Educational exhibition and Trade fair parallel event to the symposium, which will be attended by over 120 exhibitors
