The Department of Business Economics organized an industry forum under the theme, “Striving for Export Competitiveness”, on the 10th February 2020 from 5.30 pm onwards at Prof. K. A. Munasinghe Hall, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ).
The forum comprised of well-known panelists from all spheres namely, Dr. Chandranath Amarasekara (Director of Economic Research, Central Bank of Sri Lanka), Dr. Rohan Pallewatta (Executive Chairman, Lanka Harness Company (Pvt.) Ltd.), Mr. Ajith Nivard Cabraal (Former Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka), Mr. Manjula de Silva (Secretary General and Executive Officer, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce) and Mr. Heminda Jayaweera (Chief Operating Officer, Sri Lanka Institute of Nano Technology) and the panel discussion was moderated by Dr. (Mrs.) Sumudu Perera (Senior Lecturer, Department of Business Economics, USJ).
The discussion was developed in the areas of competitive edges for Sri Lankan exporters, use of new technology and innovations to reach competitive edges, cross border trade and exchange rate, how to boost Sri Lankan trade, and the role of the government in facilitating exports. This forum is a follow up of the “Striving for Export Competitiveness” held in January 2019.
