A leading academic, researcher, Clinical Associate Professor of Marketing (Retired), Professor Eugene F. Fregetto, visited Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura on 21st May 2019 at the invitation of Department of Entrepreneurship. Vice Chancellor of the University, Dean of the Faculty, Head of the Department and other lecturers of the department as well as the other departments warmly welcomed him to the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
Professor Fregetto of the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA, boasts a wealth of knowledge and experience in Procurement Policy, Small Business, Privatization, Distributive Politics, Architectural, and Structural Engineering and Journalism.
Professor Fregetto shared his valuable knowledge and experience with the faculty members during his visit. He conducted a highly informative session on ‘Publishing research papers in American Journals’ for the academics of the university. Professor Fregetto assisted the research activities of the staff members and undergraduates and masters students of the Department of Entrepreneurship by providing insights and guidance. Further, a special discussion on ‘how to re-ignite the economy of Sri Lanka’ was held and role of the department, government, and international organizations were widely discussed and initiatives of the department at the national level were also revisited at the discussion. Professor engaged in curricular revision discussion held at the Department of Entrepreneurship. Finally, he conducted an effective session of “Publishing Research Papers in American Journals” for the benefit of Ph.D. candidates of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce.
The Department organized a farewell event for the professor on the final day of his visit to appreciate the service rendered by him visiting Sri Lanka at this crucial moment. The University extended the warm wishes for his future endeavors and agreed to work together for the benefit of Sri Lankan academic and entrepreneurial community in the future.
