Prof. H. M. A. Herath Annual Memorial Oration was successfully held on 31st January 2020 at the Prof. K. A. Munasingha Hall, of the FMSC. It was organized by the Department of Public Administration together with the Alumni Association of Public Administration. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. U. Anura Kumara, the Dean of the FMSC. The Orator of the event was the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. W. A. Wijewardena who delivered the oration on a timely topic of “Religio-Cultural Fundamentalism, Liberty and Social Progress”.
Concurrent to the oration, Professor H. M. A. Herath Memorial Student Development Scholarship Fund was established with the purpose of supporting Public Management undergraduates who are undergoing financial difficulties. To establish the fund the initial donation was made by Mr. H. M. T. D. Herath, representing the family members of Prof. H. M. A. Hertah. Also, Dr. W. A. Wijewardena and other alumni members made their contributions to the fund.
The oration was graced by many participants including heads of the departments, academic staff members of the FMSC, other guests, an invitee representing Prof.HMA Herath family members, alumni members and the students of the Department. The media coverage of the oration was done by Sirasa TV, TV Derana, Lankadeepa, and Daily Mirror.
