Department of Business Economics always believes that the undergraduates should not only be given theoretical knowledge, but also practical application of such theory. Accordingly, the department organized a guest lecture on ‘Sri Lanka Development Update 2017’. This was held on the 29th January 2018 at the Soratha Building Main Hall. As the resource person, Mr. Ralph van Doorn, Senior Country Economist at the World Bank for Sri Lanka and the Maldives shared his experience and insights on macroeconomic performance of the country. His responsibilities include monitoring and reporting on the macroeconomy, providing technical assistance and policy advice to the governments on topics related to macroeconomics, fiscal policy and public debt management. He holds a Master of Research degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and a Master of Science degree in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology.
