The Department of Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences in the University of Sri Jayewardenepura presents its Diploma in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology with the objective of building the capacity of non-graduate employees and A/L qualified students who wish to obtain professional qualification in the field of Forensic Medicine.
This is an innovative and multidisciplinary diploma course which is conducted by highly qualified and experienced academic staff. The curriculum has been developed with the assistance of local and international experts in Forensic Medicine in par with similar world class programmes.
It was decided to conduct this part time course due to frequent requests made by lawyers, police officers, prison officers, child protection officers, Government Analyst Department etc. At the Department meeting, we discussed the necessity and feasibility of such a course especially for the stakeholders of the criminal justice system because there is no such academic programme in Sri Lanka for them.
