ඇමරිකානු උපාධි අපේක්ෂකයින් 16 කගෙන් සැදුම් ලත් කණඩායමක් සඳහා “නිවර්තන වනාන්තර පරිසර විද්‍යා හා ජෛව විවිධත්ව සංරක්ෂණය” පිලිබඳ ක්ෂේත්‍ර වැඩමුළුවක් 2018 ජනවාරි මස 15 සහ 16 යන දෙදින යගිරල පහිටි විශ්විද්‍යාලයේ “වනාන්තර පර්යේෂණ හා සංරක්ෂණ අධ්‍යයන” මධ්‍යස්ථානයේදී පැවැත්විය. මෙම වැඩසටහන ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ වන හා පාරිසරික විද්‍යා අධ්‍යනාංශයේ තිරසාරත්වය සඳහා කේන්ද්‍රය අනුග්‍රහයෙන් පැවැත්වූ අතර වැඩසටහන සංවිධානය ආචාර්ය ප්‍රියාන් පෙරේරා මහතා විසිනි.
A Field Workshop on “Tropical Forest Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation” for undergraduate students in the Environmental Management Program of Colby College, Maine, USA was held at the Yagirala Forest Research and Conservation Education Center on 15th & 16th January 2018. The program was organized by Dr. Priyan Perera and hosted by the Center for Sustainability of the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. A group of 16 students led by Prof. Philip Nyhus attended the 2-day program. In this highly successful workshop, the visiting students were given hands-on experiences in tropical biodiversity conservation, forest restoration and understanding of various conservation issues faced by the Yagiral Forest. Mr. Kosala Gunawardene, the Forest Manager of Yagirala University forest also contributed as a resource person.
