Mr. Isuru U. Kariyawasam a lecturer, Department of Botany, Faculty of Applied Sciences, recently achieved the status of “Fellow” of the UK Advance Higher Education Academy (HEA) in recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in Higher Education.
Mr. Kariyawasm is currently reading his Ph.D. in the discipline of Phylogenomics & Molecular Systematics of Plants in the University of Edinburgh and The Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh, UK.
Simultaneously, Mr. Kariyawasam has achieved the “Edinburgh Teaching Award”(category 2 – Fellow) from the Institute for Academic Development, the University of Edinburgh while he is pursuing his postgraduate studies.
Mr. Kariyawasam awarded the Commonwealth Postgraduate Scholarship twice by the UK Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme to read his MSc and Ph.D. studies in the UK (2012 and 2016 respectively). Mr. Kariyawasam has worked nearly for seven years (2009-16) at the Department of Botany as a lecturer in Plant Taxonomy.
