The Dean’s Award for the Community Leader 2021 is intended to recognize the leadership qualities of the undergraduates in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS). The whole process was jointly organized by the FHSS and the Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of USJ. An open invitation was sent to the FHSS students for registration. Three workshops were organized to give a sound understanding of a community project, portfolio writing and to enhance their presentation skills. Dr. Janaka Fernando, Senior Lecturer, Department of Business Economics conducted the workshop on ‘How to manage a successful community service project’, Mrs. Chathurangani Thennakoon, Career Advisor, CGU conducted a workshop on ‘Portfolio Preparation’ and Mr. Sameera Jayawardene, Career Advisor, CGU conducted a workshop on ‘Presentation Techniques’. Eight portfolios were selected for the final competition. The final selection was done by Dr. Janaka Fernando, Senior Lecturer, Department of Business Economics with the presence of Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda, Dean, FHSS, Prof. Sudath Amarasena, Director, CGU, Dr. Nelum Kanthilatha, Coordinator of the event, and Dr. Tharaka Ananda, Compere of the event. Congratulations to the 2021 Community Leaders of the Faculty.
